Stories are part of our whole day, whether it is reading books or simply sitting down where children are playing together. We believe telling stories builds relationships with all who are involved and we incorporate story telling in many aspects of our day.
At our school, we take time to individually ask the children, “How does your story start?” Although each child may not have a story each day, many children elect to tell them. As a child communicates their story, a teacher documents it. Most often the stories are about their day, a recent vacation or an owie. Somtimes children make up a story or tell a slightly different version of the same story over and over. Story telling is a great emotional outlet for children and we feel it is very important that we satisfy your child’s emotional needs at school.
